Today making it the second day of the Keffi Believers’ Convention began with an enriching morning session led by Pastor Joseph Ice. With the theme “According to the Scripture,” he emphasized the foundational role of God’s Word in our faith and daily lives.
He emphasized on a lot of things gaining their foundation from the scriptures.
Key Takeaways from Today’s Sermon
- Sheep Depend on Their Shepherd :
By design, sheep do not think for themselves—that is the role of the shepherd. In the same way, believers are to depend on Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, for guidance, wisdom, and direction in life.
2. Scriptures Form the Basis of Our Beliefs:
The authority of God’s Word cannot be questioned. It serves as the foundation for our beliefs, convictions, and decisions. Without Scripture, faith becomes subjective and without structure.
3. Cultivating a Hunger for God’s Word:
Just as a healthy body requires proper nourishment, so does the spiritual life. It is important to cultivate a strong appetite for God’s Word and seek it daily for growth and maturity.
4. God’s Word is the Final Authority:
No circumstance, opinion, or worldly influence should override the authority of God’s Word. Whatever He has spoken stands firm and unchanging.
5. The Condition of the Heart Determines the Word’s Impact:
The Word of God is never faulty—it is always powerful and effective. However, the type of heart that receives it determines its outcome. A hardened heart resists the Word, while a receptive heart bears fruit (Matthew 13:1-9).
6. Understanding the Kingdom of God
The kingdom of God is best understood as the realm where God’s supreme authority is exercised, encompassing His rule, reign, and divine influence on earth (Matthew 6:33). It is the operational sphere where His power, wisdom, and sovereignty are made manifest, reflecting His will in all aspects of life.
7. Faithfulness Over Giftedness
While talents and gifts are significant, faithfulness holds greater value in the kingdom of God. A person who remains steadfast in God’s service exhibits true commitment, whereas an individual solely relying on their gifts without faithfulness may falter. When selecting people for kingdom assignments, prioritizing faithfulness ensures enduring dedication and reliability over mere talent.
