God is big on honour. He is an honourable God and he expects us to live a life that is honourable to Him (1 Samuel 2:18-30)
– Honour means great respect or admiration to God, man or a thing
– God designed honour for the profit of man. God wants us to lead honourable lives
– Honour first and foremost is a heart matter; it requires your will
– As a christian, a life of honour is a must for you (Revelation 5:13).
– Honour is God’s design and plan for us
Ways to honour God
1) In our obedience to His word, commands and instructions John 14:21
– Our obedience is necessary for our profiting
2) In our words Proverbs 23:15-16, Proverbs 8:8
3) In what you do (your vocation/workplace)
– God must be seen in you in whatever you do 1 Peter 2:12
4) With your substance Proverbs 3:9
-Do well to honour the Lord with your substance, it brings increase
HONOUR FOR GOD
– We honour God by doing His word and giving His word space to work in our lives (John 14:18-21).
– Find the word that situation in your life
– Allow God’s word to find expression in your life
– Don’t allow the lies of this world to be the final
– God’s words are not heavy. Put it in first place in your life
HONOUR FOR HIS ANOINTED
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 MSG; Jeremiah 3:15
– God has given every man good pastors and we are expected to honour them
– God’s anointed is God’s best to you
Practical ways to honour the anointed
1) Listen to them Hebrews 13:17
– Take heed to your words
2) Esteem them highly
– They are God’s gift to you so you should cherish them
3) Pray for them 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2
– When you pray for your Anointed long enough, you’ll esteem them highly
4) Give to them Philippians 4:10-13
– It’s a game of honour to give to your anointed.
5) Get involved. Participate
– Get involved and happily serve, it is one way to honor the anointed.
Live a life that is honourable to God. This is how we rise.
