In the first word session of the Day 2 Morning session of our Worship Conference, Pastor Joseph Ice spoke extensively into the essence of worship through Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs. 
He also highlighted the difference between psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. A psalm is a revelation from God directed towards man and in psalms, man is a beneficiary. A hymn is a revelation from man directed towards God and in this, God is the beneficiary, and it was for man to understand God’s nature. A spiritual song is a combination of psalms and hymns
His teachings emphasized cultivating a deep and meaningful connection with God, highlighting several key points:
- Developing a Healthy Appetite for God’s Presence: Emphasized the importance of consistently seeking and enjoying God’s presence, fostering a rich spiritual life.
- Understanding Psalms: Pastor Ice explained that psalms are revelations about God meant to benefit us. They are a way for us to connect deeply with divine truths and experience God’s nature.
- Purpose of Hymns: Hymns are revelations from man to God, focusing on worship and praise that reflects our response to God’s nature and deeds.
- Spiritual Songs: These represent a blend of psalms and hymns, incorporating both the divine revelation and our response in a harmonious expression of worship.
- The Secret Place of Worship: The pastor stressed that leading worship effectively requires a personal, intimate relationship with God, cultivated in private worship before leading others.
- Worship Leadership: For worship leaders, true worship begins not on stage but in the private, sacred space of personal devotion.
