  • The Believers’ Responsibility – Pastor Segun Alemede

Starting our first leadership session for KBC ’25, Pastor Segun Alemede gave a powerful reminder of the responsibilities believers hold in their walk with God. With passion and clarity, he emphasized that faithfulness, stewardship, and dedication are not just virtues but essential commitments for every Christian seeking to fulfill God’s purpose.

One of the key takeaways from the session was the truth that ministering to the Lord is a believer’s primary duty. Worship and service are not optional add-ons to the Christian life—they are foundational. A life surrendered to God must be marked by devotion and intentional service in His presence.

Pastor Segun also highlighted the undeniable connection between vision and people. “Vision requires people, and people require vision,” he explained. No matter how great a vision may be, it will not materialize without people to carry it forward. Conversely, people without vision will wander aimlessly. It is in the alignment of both that God’s work flourishes.

A sobering reality was shared regarding the people we train. “The most dangerous person to dismiss is the one you have invested in and equipped for service,” Pastor Segun warned. Investing in people is a divine responsibility, and to cast them aside carelessly can hinder not only their growth but also the very mission God has entrusted to us.

Another crucial lesson was on humility. Rather than waiting to be humbled by circumstances, Pastor Segun encouraged believers to choose humility and let God reward them in due season. True promotion comes from God, and when we walk in humility, we position ourselves for His divine elevation.

Faithfulness was another central theme of the session. God has given every believer gifts, and He expects us to use them diligently. Whether in ministry, business, or daily interactions, we are called to steward our abilities well, understanding that accountability grows as we progress in our service. With greater responsibilities come higher expectations and stricter correction—something every committed believer must embrace.

Perhaps the most profound message of the night was this: God’s faithfulness demands faithfulness in return. Just as He remains steadfast in His love and promises, He expects His people to be unwavering in their walk with Him. Quoting 1 Corinthians 4:1-3, Pastor Segun reminded us that believers are stewards of God’s work, entrusted with His mysteries, and must manage them responsibly.

In the end, faithfulness is the greatest gift we can offer to God. Beyond talents, sacrifices, and outward displays of devotion, it is the consistent and unwavering commitment to His calling that truly pleases Him.

As the session concluded, one thing was clear: Walking with God is not about fleeting moments of devotion but about a lifetime of steadfast faithfulness. May we all embrace this call with renewed dedication.
