Understanding by the Spirit – Pastor Segun Alemede

During the word session for the Day 3 evening session of our Mid-Year Conference, we explored the profound theme of “Understanding by the Spirit.” Pastor Segun Alemede delivered a compelling message based on 1 Corinthians 2:1-6, emphasizing the importance of spiritual understanding over human reasoning.

Key Highlights from the Sermon:

  1. Divine Simplicity: Pastor Segun began by stating, “If the things that can change your life are difficult, then God is not God.” This highlighted the accessibility of God’s transformative power, which doesn’t rely on human complexity but on divine simplicity.
  2. Trust Beyond Understanding: “You can’t trust God with your understanding,” he continued, reminding us that true faith transcends our limited human comprehension and is rooted in spiritual insight.
  3. Power Requirement: Every situation in life demands a specific power requirement, and as believers, we are equipped with this power. “The dressing of the new creation is power,” Pastor Segun proclaimed, urging us to embrace our spiritual identity.
  4. Sincerity and Deception: He warned, “If the new creation is not sincere, he’s in trouble,” emphasizing the importance of sincerity in our walk with God. He also touched on the dangers of deception, noting that “Deception is in grades, the highest form is self-deception.”
  5. The Role of Repetition: “Repetition is the key to lasting impression,” he said, underscoring the value of consistent practice in internalizing spiritual truths.
  6. Acknowledging Darkness: Pastor Segun pointed out that we “must acknowledge the darkness before you can appreciate the light,” teaching us the importance of recognizing our need for God’s light.
  7. Simplicity in Depth: He defined depth as “the ability to communicate with simplicity,” a call to convey profound truths in a clear and understandable manner.
  8. Supernatural Identity: Finally, he concluded that “until the supernatural is taken as identity, manifestation becomes difficult,” challenging us to fully embrace our identity in Christ for true spiritual manifestation.

This evening session was a powerful reminder of the need for spiritual understanding and the importance of embracing our identity in Christ. Join us for more sessions as we continue to delve into the depths of God’s Word and experience His transformative power.
